Foundry IP Ecosystem Strategies and Solutions
This position is based in San Jose, CA, USA working with the Foundry Marketing Team, but will collaborate directly with the Design Solutions and Marketing organizations in Samsung Foundry’s Korea headquarters (DSK).  The role will have responsibility for establishing, executing and expanding Samsung Foundry’s IP strategies and solutions, with primary focus on establishing IP roadmaps and customer promotions.

Specifically, the responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Establish & maintain IP roadmaps- Define which IP titles Samsung Foundry requires for each customer and application. Work with Segment marketing and DSK to get the IP titles on the roadmap.
• Ensure roadmap definitions go beyond IP titles and include key specs, vendors of choice for target customers, verified integration, required collaterals, etc. for both the hard and soft IPs required to create a total solution.
• Identify the ideal vendor for each IP given customer and application targets, vendor product schedules, PPA, track record, customer preferences, etc.
• Partners – Track development schedules and deliveries, drive quality standards and PPA, complete cross training, conduct joint promotions, mutually align marketing collaterals and drive cost targets. Nurture and grow partnerships. Foster new relationships.
• Participate in select industry standards bodies to sense and help drive future requirements for critical IPs e.g. high speed SerDes, PCIe, HBM.
• Evangelize Samsung foundry IP solutions at Samsung, partner, and industry events
• Samsung Foundry Ecosystem Process – collaborate with DSK to establish a process in which to engage with partners to join the SAFE program – review, identification, application, qualification, on-boarding and support process.
• Managing 3^rd Party Partners

Externally, this position will work with all IP ecosystem partners, and will participate in various industry consortiums, forums and events. Internally this position will work closely with technology, EDA, marketing, and worldwide sales and business development teams. Frequent travel to Samsung Foundry Headquarters in Korea is required. 

The successful candidate should have a strong technical background and be able to understand IP specifications and system requirements.  The candidate is expected to have a solid understanding of foundry business models, EDA and IP business landscape, IP development and licensing models, and key contract terms. The candidate should be knowledgeable in process technologies, key attributes and benchmarks for foundation IP, and key evaluation metrics of IP competitiveness. Additionally the candidate should possess strong interpersonal, and both verbal and written communication skills.

REQUIRED SKILLS (Education Certificates, Licenses, Travel)

• BS or BE minimum, MS/MBA/PhD highly preferred.
• Functional Safety (FuSa) or ISO26262 preferred
• Minimum 5-10 years of semiconductor industry experience, with direct exposure to IP selection, specification, and/or development at a design services (ASIC) company, IP provider, Foundry, Fabless or IDM product company.
• Highly knowledgeable in foundry and IP business models.
• Exposure to both fabless semiconductor and ASIC development models and cycles, and industry standards organizations.
• Broad understanding of major markets and key applications such as mobile, 5G, IoT, HPC/AI/ML, datacenter, automotive, etc.
• Highly passionate and energetic.
• Strong program management and detailed oriented.
• Excellent communication, inter-personal and presentation skills.
• 20% domestic and international travel expected
• Regular travel to Korea.
• Partner and Customer visits
