Samsung is seeking a Director of Storage Pathfinding to guide product planning and ecosystem development for our workload-optimized SSD products, including SmartSSD™, Ethernet SSD, and SSD products with specialized firmware or memory with or without embedded accelerators or fabrics.

Reporting to our Vice President of Storage Pathfinding, the ideal candidate for this role will be able to (1) work with our customers and potential end users and developers to gather requirements and drive PRDs, (2) systematically engage and grow ecosystem partners to ensure timely availability of supporting technologies at New Product Introduction, (3) Program Manage PoC and qualification of SSD products with OEM and Hyperscale customers alike, and (4) finally, periodically sense and report on architecture and workload trends of SSDs in order to guide and influence the company’s N+2 roadmap.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and deliver Product Requirements for SSD technologies under development or consideration. Provide justification, define use cases and answer engineering questions about requirements, identify and communicate value propositions including TCO calculations and note alignments or risks vis-à-vis customer strategies/plans.
• Deliver customer qualification and mapping intelligence such as critical success factors for PoC and production deployments.
• Identify key stakeholders, processes, and timeframes in key accounts, focusing on product/service intercepts.
• Identify other value propositions and limitations beyond specific performance benefits such as speedup.
• Communicate internally on a regular basis reporting both program status, meeting outcomes, results of internal and external discussions, and any sensing information.
• Request information aggressively, review and ask questions (digging below the surface), and provide detailed responses when asked.

Other Useful Skills

• Prior work experience and relationships with advanced technology groups and architects at hyperscaler companies and storage/server OEMs
• Managing samples and quals with customers and ecosystem development partners for
• Persistent Memory/Fast Storage ecosystem engagements
• Prior experience with computational storage or NVMeOF SSDs
• Experience with any of the discrete (Xilinx, Intel-Altera) or embedded (Flexlogix, Achronix, Efinix) FPGA vedors
• Experience with NVMe or SNIA standards working group at observer level
• Practical experience or course certifications in analytics, machine learning, or video workloads.
• Awareness of filesystems and block storage stack.
• Awareness of virtualization and security technologies.
• Experience working with TAM/SAM data and building market forecasts from bottom up.
• JIRA skills or project/program management certifications.
• Excellent business communication skills (presentation and oral communication, as well as written communication).
