OVERVIEW & IMPACT

Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. in San Jose is looking for a talented and motivated location systems engineer. Candidate will work as part of the Connectivity Location team responsible for system/algorithm design, modeling/implementation and product performance optimization of cutting-edge location IP that powers some of the top brands in mobile and wearable markets.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop key location technologies using GNSS signals such as GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, Beidou etc.
• Design signal processing algorithms for the location stack including measurement, positioning and fusion layers.
• Develop MATLAB, Python and/or C/C++ models to characterize algorithm performance.
• Develop prototypes and proof-of-concept models to generate new candidate enhancement ideas and demonstrate their efficacy.
• Collaborate closely with SW/FW engineers in implementation and validation of algorithms, and optimization for achieving target performance metrics.
• Design test campaigns, characterize and optimize chip performance through lab and field tests.
• Perform detailed data analysis of product logs for performance characterization and issue resolution efforts.
• Must be open for occasional international travel (up to ~2 trips a year).

REQUIRED SKILLS  (Education Certificates, Licenses, Travel)

• Deep understanding in two or more topics in GNSS receiver systems/algorithms such as KF, sensor fusion, VDR, PDR etc
• Expertise in control theory, signal processing, estimation theory, and/or machine learning.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Data analysis, visualization and triage experience.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• C/C++, MATLAB programming experience
• PhD with 2+ years or MS with 7+ years in Electrical Engineering, Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, Physics or related

PREFERED SKILLS

• Background in GNSS acquisition/tracking, multipath mitigation, particle filtering etc
• Experience with hybrid location technologies, indoor positioning, BLE, UWB etc
• Experience is high accuracy GNSS and location fusion technologies for automotive products.
• Hands-on experience with commercialization, driving test campaigns, engaging with external partners.
