Deep Learning Computer Vision Researcher-Scientist Intern

Join us for a unique 12-14 week paid internship that offers personal and professional development. You’ll work with the teams that create new computing system architectures needed to support emerging machine learning applications, internet of things (IoT) and edge computing that benefit millions of users.  This program will give you the opportunity work on complex solutions to that address some of the world’s most complex technological challenges.

OVERVIEW

Based in San Jose, California, Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. (SSI) is a multi-billion dollar subsidiary of Samsung Electronics, Ltd. and a world leader in Memory, System LSI and LCD technologies.  We provide the widest range of memory, logic, storage devices, LED components and LCD/OLED panels to enhance the user experience in home entertainment, mobile devices, lighting and computing. SSI has advanced R&D labs focused on product design and research in memory, displays, logic, image sensors, and mobile technologies. 

Candidate will conduct research on deep learning for application processors and multimedia processors with applications such as camera enhancement, computer vision, or image and video processing. Candidate will work as part of a team on the system design, implementation, and verification of algorithms for application processors and multimedia processors.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Write computer software to develop algorithms and simulate system performance.
  • Develop machine learning and deep learning algorithms.
  • Develop novel computer vision or image processing applications.
  • Develops rules and methodologies for data collection and analysis.
  • Coordinates with other engineers and technical experts in developing machine learning algorithms to learn information from the collected data.
  • Prepare presentations, technical reports and patent applications that reflect the results.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Expertise in signal processing, computer vision, image processing, deep learning, and/or machine learning.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • C/C++, Python, and MATLAB coding skills, popular deep learning frameworks.
  • Excellence in writing technical reports and high quality publications.

PREFERED SKILLS

  • Publications in highly ranked journals and conferences
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Computer Science or Electrical Engineering with experience or M.Sc. degree. PhD candidates are preferred.
