Modem Systems Engineer (5G/LTE – Advanced Demod/Decoding Algorithms and Research)

Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. is looking for a passionate systems engineer with in-depth knowledge on PHY algorithm design for a cellular modem. We are part of a team that designs cellular algorithms for Samsung Exynos chipsets.


  • Designing demodulation algorithms for a baseband processor of a cellular modem.
  • Designing algorithms for PHY channel decoder/encoder and symbol processor of a cellular modem.
  • Conducting advanced research on future cellular technologies.
  • Conducting simulations (both floating-point and fixed-point) in C/C++/MATLAB, and optimizing algorithms for mobile devices.
  • Supporting verification and bring-up collaborating with other SW/HW engineers.


  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong background in communication theory and signal processing with solid understanding of wireless standards.
  • Strong background in channel coding theory preferably with information-theoretic background
  • C/C++/MATLAB coding skills


  • Strong background in Polar codes, LDPC codes

·         Ph. D. is preferred
