Computational Photography and Computer Vision Algorithm Design Engineer Intern

Summer 2021 internship applications are open September 2020.  Samsung Semiconductor summer internships start in May/June 2021.

Join us for a unique 12-14 week paid internship that offers personal and professional development. You’ll work with the teams that create new computing system architectures needed to support emerging machine learning applications, internet of things (IoT) and edge computing that benefit millions of users.  This program will give you the opportunity work on complex solutions to that address some of the world’s most complex technological challenges.



Based in San Jose, California, Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. is looking for passionate interns to work on computational photography. We are part of a team that designs Exynos ModAP chipsets powering various mobile devices and cars. The team is developing computational imaging algorithms and exciting new imaging technologies for mobile devices. The duty includes designing new algorithms, architectures, and systems for image processing” to “Samsung SoC R&D Lab in San Diego is seeking talented, highly motivated individuals to join our team conducting research on cutting-edge computational photography and computer vision technologies interns. In this team, you will work on algorithm research and development that can significantly enhance the ability of Samsung mobile products and platforms.



  • To research and develop novel cutting-edge technologies for computational photography and computer vision (e.g. disparity estimation, image fusion, 3D reconstruction and photography, super resolution, semantic segmentation, human pose estimation and gesture recognition, denoising, demosaicking, sharpening etc.).
  • To produce key intellectual property and research papers in the area of computational photography, computer vision, image/video signal processing, and deep learning.
  • Prepare presentations, technical reports and patent applications that reflect the results



  • Expertise in image and video processing, computational photography, computer vision, machine learning and neural networks.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • C/C++, Python, and MATLAB coding skills, popular deep learning frameworks.



  • Publications in highly ranked journals and conferences.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Computer Science or Electrical Engineering with experience or M.Sc. degree. Ph.D. candidates are preferred.
