Test Development Engineer


We have an immediate need for a Test Development Engineer to join our growing team. The ideal Test Development Engineer will need the following:

The Test Development Engineer will be responsible working on the implementation of a Test solution to test in a storage environment, where we are developing multiple products with differing interfaces (SAS, NVMe, SCSI,etc…).  This person will be responsible for writing test plans, and test scripts that can be integrated into an automated test environment that they will help to establish.  This environment will be compatible with our current defect tracking and reporting tools. This person will be responsible to develop necessary test plans and test data sets for end to end testing, as well as be able to understand the SDLC model and what their specific activities are in delivering a solid, product. In addition to Test Development, there is a focus on automation.  The individual should have the ability to automate tests developed, and work with industry tools to develop integration into our automation framework.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with FW Development Engineers, Management, and Architects to identify the software needed and the proper tools for testing across multiple projects.
  • Develop and implement the tools needed, write the supporting scripts to implement automation.
  • Work within the existing automation framework, and contribute new functionality and integrate new tools as needed.
  • Implement quality control on the test tools designed and maintain them for follow on projects
  • Develop and implement test plans and procedures to accurately perform test / QA on projects assigned to the group
  • Integrate existing test tracking and defect tracking tools into test tool implementation
  • Develop and utilize test data that support the implementation of test plans and procedures.
  • Work closely with the Development team on test definition, test requirements, and the ability to translate these into effective test plans and cases.
  • Lend support to the development team during design development and delivery to ensure that a quality product is delivered.
  • Be able to clearly communicate complex test designs and solutions in clear, concise and easily readable format by both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Communicate effectively in both verbal (i.e. day-to-day discussions, team meetings) and written (requirements and design specifications) form, as well as have an overall ability to be clear and concise in all communications.
  • Accurately determine, assign, track and manage project task, activity, documentation, and time information.
  • Perform debug and analyze test failures
  • Work with the technicians on proper test execution and reporting
  • Work with Development to reproduce issues when needed and perform first line error/failure assessments.
  • Accurately assess the risks as part of the testing process.
  • Support the development of team members from a professional and technical level.
  • Be able to travel as necessary.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as requested.

Minimum Skills:

  • Test planning and test case design, development and maintenance.
  • Expertise in automated regression testing tool / test management tool design and execution, in both web and client-server environments.
  • Working knowledge of application design and development processes, methodologies and standards.
  • Decision making and problem solving skills and experience with software development projects.
  • Excellent English communications skills.
  • Excellent ability to understand and express complex topics.
  • Demonstrated leadership and attention to detail skills through prior experience at the tactical / implementation levels.
  • Ability to coach, mentor and train personnel (i.e. test engineers, and technicians) within a technical organization.


  • BS in Computer Science or Engineering
  • 10 + years of Industry Related Experience
  • 5-10 years of hands on Test Experience
