About the Team and Role

At SSIC, we envision a future where technology and data play an increasingly critical role in healthcare and life sciences. We have an immediate opening for a Corporate Development Director to lead corporate-level strategies for M&A and investments in the areas of healthcare and life sciences. We are a fast-paced and rapidly-expanding team with a broad and ambitious mandate to accelerate Samsung’s growth – this is an opportunity for the right candidate to work on headline-grabbing deals and impact Samsung’s strategy and inorganic growth into new markets. This role will report to the VP of Corporate Development. 

Responsibilities

  • Provide thought leadership on Samsung’s digital health and life sciences strategy, and manage the articulation and communication of the thesis work and recommendations to senior management
  • Drive the development of new business creation thesis and strategic recommendations for corporate development initiatives
  • Lead all aspects of live deal executions, including acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and strategic investments
  • Develop market intelligence and insight on key industry trends, including market size and opportunity, business model, technology, supply chain, customers, etc
  • Provide updates on competitor activities and assessments of strategic implication to Samsung’s interests
Qualifications and Requirements
  • 10+ years of prior work experience, preferably in strategy consulting, investment banking, equity research, or corporate development at pharmaceutical or biotechnology companies
  • PhD, MD, or equivalent practical experience in the Life Sciences or related fields preferred
  • Experience in regulated environments, and in managing and structuring alliances in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or related industries
  • Extensive industry network in the broader healthcare and life science communities, and have experience working with established players
  • Background in managing relationships with leadership and key stakeholders across global organizations
  • Demonstrable familiarity and knowledge of emerging technologies and trends; innate passion and curiosity for technology
  • Practical knowledge of financial analysis and modelling
  • Excellent communication skills – both interpersonal and written
  • Fluency in MS PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
